Where you can find do Rosario Obits

Many Cape Verde Church Records were generously copied & shared on the Family Search website.  familysearch.org/search/collection/2246703

Go to Collections.

Then go to Cape Verde Church Records 1787  - 1957.  This will be a mostly yellow page. 

Then click on HOW TO USE THIS COLLECTION.

Then go about two thirds down the page and look for "View the Images" & then  Collections Browse Page.  

Then click on Sao Nicolau.  It will show the two churches -- Nossa Senhora do Rosario and Nossa Senhora da Lapa.  Pick do Rosario & then it will show you numerous volumes for births, marriages, and deaths.   

BUT, beware, b/c records have been found elsewhere in this collection (misfiled).  

For instance there are obits for Sao Nicolau - do Rosario in the Boa Vista Church records. 

SO click on BOA VISTA.  It will show about six churches.  Click on Nossa Senhora do Rosario. 

There will be records for Obits (and maybe records for births and marriages).

The records are in Portuguese but there are various ways to search the Index. 

For my part, I have spent years translating records and making indexes.  You might want to scroll through all of my blog posts to see if you can find the year that you are looking for and perhaps there might be a translation or a partial translation.  

Also, I have made "communities" and "families".  So for instance you can search ALMEIDA and you can find "the family of Manoel Francisco Almeida" or "the family of Constantino Joao Almeida". 

I mostly concentrate on the names - Almeida/dos Santos/Varella/da Cruz/da Conceicao/de Brito/Encarnacao/Salomao/Duarte/Damaio/Affonso/Rodrigues de Brito/Moraes/Evora.
