TEQUE  - Teque is an important name in my family history as Peter/Pedro Manoel Teque was part of the Snook clan in New Bedford that was associated with my grandmother, Maria Antonia Encarnacao (Maria d' Mane).  A Teque is in the Standard Times Photo of the Sociedade (CV men of New Bedford).

Pedro Manuel Teque  (sometimes Theque) - was born in Sao Nicolau on 5/19/1896.  Died 4/1953.  Son of  Manuel Teque & Clara J. Silva/Gladys Silva.   He entered the US on the Ship AMBROSE SNOW on 10/20/1917 at 21y.  He left behind his mother, Clara J. Silva, & he would join his godfather Roberto J. Brito. (compiler's family - I believe this is Roberto Jose de Brito). 

 

In this photo, Mr. Teque is the third man standing from the left (the sixth man standing from the right) with glasses and a tie (but his jacket looks buttoned), and at the opening of the curtain.  Photo taken around 1948.    

*****   Naturalization papers (US Declaration of Intention), 173 Cushing in NB, 44y, not md but had three children, 5'9", 150 pounds, his children are - Elizabeth 5/27/1925 (resides in Hyannis), Anna 7/18/1922 (resides in Hyannis), & Mario 8/24/1928 (resides at the North Reading Massachusetts State Sanitorium).  

His WWI Draft Registration Card, Reg. 9/12/1918, 107 Second Street, NB, Miguel Theque is his uncle (at 208 Acushnet Avenue), medium height, slender build (Theque);   

 WW II Draft Registration Card  - 101 Pleasant St., New Bedford, 46y, the registrar checked off "White" but then noted CV, his contact is Theofilo Frates, employed by Firestone Mill.  Massachusetts Marriage Index  reveals that he was md in 1951 but does not show his wife.   US Social Security Application & Claims b. 5/19/1896 at "St Nihola" s/o Manuel &  Gladys Silva.  (Note: he is in the photo Snooks Around the Table).  He died in April 1953.
