BEFORE 1911 VARELLA WAS SPELLED WITH A DOUBLE L. 

AFTER 1911 VARELLA HAS ONLY ONE L.  But in the US they seem to have changed it back to two L's

The family of Anastacia Varella - b. probably 1775 - 1780

It appears that there was a woman named Anastacia Varella (b. around 1775 - 1780) who had two daughters -- Anna & Antonia. 

(1)  Anna Anastacia Varella b. probably around _____ (Anna Anastacia was the mother of Antonia Rosa Varella (b. 1799, d. 1888).       & 

(2)  Antonia Anastacia Gomes Varella b. probably around _____  - THIS COMPILER IS DESCENDED FROM ANTONIA.     Antonia Anastacia Gomes / Varella  was the wife of _______________   &  the mother of Rosa Antonia Gomes/Varella b. probably around 1856  & Antonio Manoel Belchior (husband of Gertrudes Ignez da Graca).  She had a child with Manoel Belchior Soares.  (There was another Antonia  Varella md to Bartholomeu Jose Soares - make sure it is not the same person - their child was Julia which runs in this line so i am inclined to think that there is a connection somehow).

Rosa Antonia Varella was the grandmother of

 (1) Julia Julia da Conceicao Julia Varella  / Julia Julia da Conceicao    (b. 4/12/1892, baptized 6/10/1894, died  1/4/1898 at 6 yrs old.  THIS IS JULIA JULIA da CONCEICAO WHO WAS BAPTIZED BY HER GRANDMOTHER ROSA MARIA VARELLA BUT WHO WAS REALLY THE CHILD OF MANOEL ROZA VARELLA & JULIA CATHERINA DA CONCEICAO.   Granddaughter of Rosa Antonia Varella (though she baptized her as if she were her own child   - Daughter of Manoel Rosa Varella/Manoel Joao Almeida & Julia Catharina da Conceicao. Julia Varella  / Julia Julia da Conceicao    (b. 4/12/1892, bap 6/10/1894, died  1/4/1898 at 6 yrs old. Daughter of Manoel Roza Varella/Manoel Joao Almeida & Julia Catharina da Conceicao but baptized by Rosa Antonia Varella as if it were her child.  See the family of Anastacia Varella.

Both of the sons of Rosa Antonia Varella married women named Julia.  Julia the child of Manoel Joao de Almeida (Manoel Rosa Varella) was born three months prior to Manoel Rosa Varella/MJA’s illegitimate child Maria Antonia Encarnacao (d/o Antonia Rosa da Encarnacao & she was her second child).  So this compiler contends that little Julia was actually a grandchild and they were protecting the unwed 13 year old (or so) Julia Catharina - who later married MRV/MJA).  I believe that her death record bears this out.  

Rosa Antonia Varella finally married _________________ in ___________________ and they had a child _________________________.

Antonio Justiniano Varela -    

b. 2/20/1886. Not sure what island he is from. He came into the US on 6/15/1921, he appears on the Rhode Island Naturalizations, lives at 135 Ives, Providence, 56y, 5'2", he came in on the Ship - GREYHOUND. Certificate # 64925, dated 5/18/1942.  Laborer, single, he came in under the name Antonio J. Varela.
