The Unique Boutique was on Union Street near Purchase on the North side of Union. It was owned by a Cape Verdean woman, Nita Haynes (my mother). She sold clothing, wigs, baskets, jewelry, all manner of ethnic goods. In this photo you can see two "live" models in the window (Darlene & Charlene). The store remained open until a gas main blew further down Union near the water, blowing out all of the windows and doing significant damage to many of the businesses. Rosie and Cookie worked in the store and Cookie was also a window model, I think.
