When I started this blog ...

I could not read or write in Portuguese.  Over the years and with the help of native speakers I have learned to at least read the Church records.  Also, I have had a lot of input on the families, the reasons for spelling things a certain way, some of the politics, naming patterns, etc.  I hope I continue to get better.
